Welcome to BeaverTech Robotics

We are a FIRST Robotics Competition (www.firstinspires.org) team based in Beaverton, MI dedicated to developing students into leaders utilizing STEM training and volunteer efforts to transform our community

Sub Teams

Build

Our build team is responsible for designing and building the physical structure of the robot each year.

Scouting

Our scouting team is an important part of competition.  They determine capabilities of teams at competition and help to set the strategy for each match.  They also help to set up alliances during the finals to best use robot capabilities.

Programming

Our programming team is responsible for programming the robot as well as various other software related items like CAD designs, animation, and CNC cutting

Animation

Part of the marketing and programming sub teams, the animation group puts together animations for FIRST submission as well as various other things we can use them for.

Marketing

Our marketing team is responsible for fundraising organization, recruiting, website maintenance, and arranging fun days.

Drive Team

The drive team are the ones needed to actually perform with the robot on the field from the drive coach, who is responsible for sticking with the determined strategy, the drivers who execute it, the human player who supports it, and the technician who watches for things to go wrong field side so we can be ready quickly to fix it.

Frequently Asked Questions

What do you do at robotics?

Besides the basic answer of "We build robots", we do quite a bit more from designing marketing materials and T-shirts (and make them) to fundraising and programming robots, getting ready for off-season events like community service, parades, and anything else we can find and have time for.  The best way to learn about what we do is to stop in and see!

What ages can come to robotics?

We currently have competition teams for 6th-8th grade (FTC KitTech) and 9th-12th grade (BeaverTech) however, younger students are welcome to come, learn, and help us out!

Who can come to robotics?

We have competition teams for 6th (roughly age 11) -12th grades (roughly age 18) based on the recommendations from FIRST (firstinspires.org).  Younger students are allowed as well.  We are a community team with sponsorship from the school (providing a build space and fiscal partnership) as well as many other businesses and people in the area and around the world so our team is open to the entire community including home schoolers and other schools.

This is a great program, how can I help as an adult?

The best ways to help are to donate goods or funds to the team or get involved as a mentor.  We are always looking for mentors and we can even train you.  We are always looking for help with everything from fundraising (including grant writing) to marketing to mechanics and building to electronics to programming.  Get in touch or stop in to see!

Where is the (insert tool here)?

When tools are missing, they are most often in the place they are supposed to be...i.e., in the proper tool box in the correct space.

Where is (insert person)?

People tend to randomly disappear.  They phase back into existence periodically but the only sure times they appear is when they arrive or just before they have to go home.

WHAT did you DO?

Nothing...the answer is always nothing.  It works as it should and it is a feature, not a flaw.

Where is your safety gear?

This is the reason we 3D print safety gears.  That way people have their safety gear in their pocket.  This, however, precludes them from actually being safe.

Violence?

Violence is never the answer.  It is the question.  The answer is "Yes".

Disclaimer: We don't condone or promote violence in robotics...this is just a quote in the wrong place.

Where are all the snacks?

You have to fight Shredder for them.

That would be the mascot mouse.
